Subscrr on Apple Watch
A companion app with five sections, your financial plan, and seven complications, so the next charge is on your wrist.
There is a companion Apple Watch app, plus complications you can put on a watch face.
It is deliberately small in scope: a glance at what is coming and what things cost, rather than the whole app on a small screen. Adding subscriptions and scanning receipts stay on the iPhone. The watch app and its complications do not need Premium.
Install it
The watch app installs with the iPhone app. If it is not on the watch, open the Watch app on iPhone, scroll to Subscrr and install it there.
Getting around
The app opens on a list of five sections, each with its own coloured icon. Tap one to open it, and use the back arrow in the corner to return. Nothing is buried more than one level down.
- Affirmation: the day's thought over its poster, hidden until you tap it.
- Subscriptions: what is coming up, each card in the colour of the service. Tap one for the countdown ring and the amount. The same screen has a Delete button, with a confirmation, for removing a subscription from the watch.
- Spending: what you spend a month and a year, then your categories as coloured icons with their amounts. Tracked expenses live on the iPhone; the watch shows the result.
- Plan: your financial plan as a table.
- Settings: the colour your complications and Smart Stack card use, and the text size for the whole watch app.
Text size
Settings → Text size offers three steps. It changes every screen of the watch app at once and it is stored on the watch, so your phone is not involved and your iPhone text size is left alone.
Your plan on the wrist
The Plan section is always in the list. Until you build a plan in Plan on the iPhone, it explains that much and nothing more, rather than disappearing and leaving you to guess.
Once a plan exists, it is the same table you have on the phone: lines down the side, months scrolling sideways, each line with its own coloured dot. A number you typed in by hand is shown in that colour too, so an entered figure never looks like a calculated one. Tap a cell to correct it, then Save, or Reset to go back to what the line's rule calculates. Your number shows on the watch at once, and the watch also sends the change to the iPhone, which recalculates the table and sends it back, which is why the two never disagree.
With more than one plan saved, the three dots above the table switch between them. Scenarios, the chat and building a plan from scratch stay on the iPhone.
The complications
Four of them work in the rectangular, circular, inline and corner slots, so they fit almost any face. Three are rectangular only.
- Next payment: your next subscription charge. All four slots.
- Next payment · glance: name, price and date in one rectangular glance. Rectangular only.
- Next three: the logos of your three nearest payments, for a busier week. Rectangular only.
- This week: which days of the week money leaves. Rectangular only.
- Monthly spend: what your subscriptions cost per month. All four slots.
- Subscriptions: how many you are tracking and what is due this week. All four slots.
- Daily affirmation: a calm thought about money, new every day. All four slots.
Add one
- Touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit, and swipe to the complications screen.
- Tap a complication slot and choose Subscrr.
- Pick the complication you want from the list.
If the watch shows nothing, open Subscrr on the iPhone once with both devices nearby: the watch app takes its data from the phone.
